Last night I had the special honor or attending our church's annual Easter presentation of Stained. It was amazing. This is the 2nd year of this performance and I was still just in awe like I was last year. Kudos to everyone who reads my blog and had a hand in the making of Stained. Way to go. You did a fabulous job! :)
I wrote a few days ago that I really wanted to show my children and myself really the true meaning of Easter. I wanted to spend time talking to Gracelyn about Jesus' death and what it means. Not the kiddie version that she is used to. That has it's purpose but I thought we needed to graduate to the 10 year-old version if there is such a thing. I tell you what, she was ready to hear it. She blew me away with her knowledge of it already. (Thank you Sunday school teachers) Gracelyn had some serious looks on her face when she asked her questions. I tried not to get caught up in the special mommy/daughter moment and focus on my purpose. Teaching my daughter about Christ. Ummm.... Wait~mommy/daughter moments happen so purely because of Christ! Well there you have it. I got to share my faith with a 5 year-old and she just so happened to be my daughter. How much more magical is that?
My house smells of brisket right now. The good kind of smell that will last for hours. No-days! We (as in my parents and sister) are hosting our annual Easter feast at my house this year and it has turned into something that has my heart bursting with love and joy. Not only do we get to be with each other. We do that often and regularly so Easter would just be another reason to eat for us. This year we are having many families who either don't have family in town or have chosen to come eat with us over their families. HE HE HE... If you happen to mention that you don't have plans for dinner tomorrow at 5:00 you will get an invite. Or just show up! I don't want to intimidate anyone who reads this before tomorrow with the amount of people who will be here but I do want you all to know that you were sincerely asked to share your day with us and that this is not about the food or the amount of people we can cram in one house. It is about the ability to share Christ's love and joy with each other.
Okay seriously onto the menu:
brisket & ham
potato salad, baked beans, green salad, macaroni and cheese
pink salad, strawberries and banana salad, Jesus eggs
rolls
chocolate cake, peanut butter bars, hmm... there is one more but I don't know what it is yet
I'm sure there will be more goodies thought of but I can't wait. Seriously my mouth is on overload with drool right now!
We will have an egg hunt either before or afterwards I'm not sure but that will be fun and FREEZING. I think the forecast has changed up a bit because it was suppose to snow tomorrow. Makes for quick egg hunting.
May you all have a very blessed Easter time celebrating our Saviour.
