teething nightmare

Yes we have not escaped this nightmare I call it a nightmare because it has been some what of a long drawn out process that is really wearing me down. I can just imagine what it does for Mason...

Tonight we will start our 3rd round of sleep training. I feel no need to justify why we choose to do this method of trying to get our precious 8 month old to sleep all night. Yes you read right he is 8 months old. That is 8 months of me getting up 2-3 times a night to either nurse or console Mason back to sleep. I won't say it is every night but out of the roughly 240 days he has been alive I would say that he has slept maybe 20 of those nights all night. And Cameron is tired me of me being tired I'm sure. So we will try this again. It has worked beautifully the other 2 times and after 3-4 nights of working with him he is asleep all night. But each time we get in our routine he is messed up with either a cold or company or whatever... So now we are home for a few weeks with no interruptions so we will try again. The other factor is that Cannon and Mason share a room. So I am not too quick to let Mason cry for long before I go get him. The only thing worse than one child awake at 2:00 am is 2 children awake at 2:00 am. Our plan is to let Cannon sleep in Gracelyn's room and get used to sleeping in a bed and that will leave the boy's room free for some good old fashioned parenting. We don't let him go too long but it will be nice to not be worried that he is waking up Cannon while he is fussing.

I appreciate each parent's view but this is what will work for Mason and our family so please be respectful. :) This is probably coming from the grumpy, sleep deprived side of me... Please forgive and be generous on the grace for this tired momma.

Hope to get back to posting more often! Sorry for the blog slump.

Keri, you know I understand exactly where you are coming from! Us mamas have to do whatever works. I hope it works fast and easy this time so you can ALL get some sleep! *hugs*

I'm glad you don't feel like you have to justify or apologize for finding a way to help your child sleep through the night.

We did it with Tate around 4 1/2 months, and I don't regret it at all. After a few tough nights it worked, and he's now a great sleeper.

I affirm your decision :) and don't think there's anything to apologize for. He needs sleep, and you need sleep. It will make for a much happier baby and Mommy!

I didn't come out of the "newborn fog until Tate slept through the night!

Ya' gotta do what ya' gotta do!

Bless your tired/sleep deprived heart!I totally agree that you have to do what works for your family. It worked over here! In fact, Caroline didn't sleep through the night until she was 8 months old...sad but true. A few times without mamma rescuing her, and for the most part we are good to go. Is it something with the 3rd child?!? :)

We're still battling with D sleeping, we've tried eveyrthing and though it's got better - he's down to 2-3 wakings instead of 5-6, it's still getting to be a lot of work, let us know how the sleep training goes.

We're working on the sleep training as well, but still trying to find something that works for us! I think I'm too weak for this... last nite after an hour of alternating crying, babbling and silence I gave in and nursed him back to sleep.

Good luck!
