Once upon a time (I love writing that) there was a little princess that lived just north of Amarillo. Not to far out of the kingdom but far enough to not hear the carriages of the town people. Her parents didn't call her by her given name. She was referred to as sweet angel, pumpkin or even sweetie most days. Sweet Angel was loved beyond belief because of two things. She was the oldest child and the only daughter. Life at her house was not peaceful because of the fact that there were two smaller royal subjects living in the palace. She had to share everything, put away things really high and live with the fact that her 2 year-old brother wanted to be with her every second of the day. All in all not too bad a life though.
One day in the summer months Sweet Angel's life came to an abrupt halt. Reality set in and she had to attend kindergarten. This was not something that she was excited about. Why you may ask? Because it was all day and 5 days a week. She had it in her head that school was best accomplished by attending 2-3 days a week. Sweet Angel got the best teacher who is so sweet with her but that didn't make mornings any better. Sweet Angel got woken up really special so as not to ruffle her feathers. The queen let Sweet Angel pick out her clothes at night and that didn't help the process in the mornings either.
So each morning turned into a battle of the wills and nether the princess nor the queen won. Each day was started with tears or near tears. Pouty walks to our room, lots of huffing and puffing and some yelling even. I won't divulge who did what to protect the innocent... Needless to say it has not be pleasant at our home. I hate it and I wish it were different. We have tried all kinds of behavior techniques to change the atmosphere in the mornings but we are at a dead end.
All I want is a happily ever after and so far this school stuff has been a royal pain in the back side.
The only bright part is that the littlest prince slept all night last night! AHHHH... peaceful sleep...

That was funny. I wish my little one was sleeping through the night.
Keri,
You are too funny! I always enjoy your posts! It does get easier... babies do eventually sleep through the night, and toddlers grow out of the terrible 2's... 3's... 4's... 5's?..., and even the school-age kiddos accept the fact that school is a reality and learn to deal with it! (Well, until they reach their teens... and then you seem to start all over!) You are doing great. Hang in there! :)
I love the story....do I know these people??? HAHAHA!!! ~;-) You are an awesome Mom who will be able to work thru all of the obsticales of the morning routine with a kind and loving spirit knowing that Grace is truly going to out grow all of this. I love you!! OH and GO MASON!!!
Yay for sleeping thru!! Congrats! (only a little *jealous*)
LOL, that was a GREAT story! Yeah for Mason! Hopefully there is a happily ever after to this story--maybe next year?!? :)
