Approachability

Something I have been struggling with for a while is how approachable I am. I would love to think I am the person that comes to mind when times are tough and you need that person that always says the right thing or says nothing at all. Unfortunately I am not so sure. I think I am that person but then I really wonder. I struggle with this because it is something I seek in people. Can I strike up a conversation with you and feel like we have known each other for a while? Do people think that I am approachable for things more serious that toddler talk?

How approachable am I in the church setting? Would someone new on the scene see me as a person that can be trusted with their first conversation in a new place?

I know there are things that God works on personally with each of us and right now I am in a place that I do seek to do things better. After being in a position of being REALLY comfortable in church/work/among friends and now in a place where I am challenged I am seeing that I have some work to do.

Where are you at in the cycle of being approachable? How do you know you are? What gets your head in the game and on the right track?

Man oh man, I've been dealing with that big time this past year. We went from a small church that we had been at for 8 years and were quite "in the know" with the people and what was going on. Now we're at a 4,000+ church (which I love), but it has totally made me re-think how I approach friendships...new and old. It's hard (especially while trying to wrangle a 2 y.o). I've definitely had to remember where my security truly comes from.

Well that was probably way more than you asked for. :)

Love the baby pics!

Changing ministry is hard isn't it Kelly? How do we do it when we have to parent, serve, witness, minister, worship, praise, train and learn all in one moment?? Never ending! :)

Well Ms. Mom to be, I find your approachability to be wonderful, outstanding, and praise worthy. I found it so easy to talk to you up at K.U. It was wonderful to be able to talk to someone and understand and also have some of the same issues. You are wonderful person of God.

Keri....I find you to be very approachable! You are so genuine and heart felt! I have always felt like I could walk up to you and talk with you without hesitation! And that does not come easy for me! I have struggled with this topic for years. As all know I am a very shy person. I fear that I come off as being snoby b/c I do not talk like I should. I have prayed and prayed about it. but it just seems to be a block that is going to take time to break through. The only place I feel like I am appraochable is at work and at home. It might be because of the confidence I have in those places..I'm not sure. But I definetly know where you are comming from and thank you for sharing!
